Misamis Occidental — In a historic moment for the province,
the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) officially proclaimed the winners of the
2025 midterm elections, where a “tsunami victory” was declared in favor of Team
Asenso.
Governor Henry S. Oaminal led the winning candidates with a
total of 297,067 votes, showing strong support from the people. Vice Governor
Rowena Gutierrez was also re-elected with 285,168 votes.
In the congressional race, Team Asenso continued its
dominance. 1st District Representative Jason Almonte secured 122,329 votes,
while 2nd District Representative Sancho Fernando “Ando” Oaminal received
176,532 votes, proving the people's trust in their leadership and service.
The Provincial Board of Canvassers led the official
proclamation at the COMELEC Provincial Office after receiving all election
returns from each town and city in the province.
Winners of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Board
Members) for both districts were also announced.
COMELEC also recognized the peaceful and orderly conduct of
the elections, showing the strength and maturity of democracy in Misamis
Occidental. Team Asenso vowed to continue its programs and services for peace,
progress, and good governance in the province.
This year’s results show that Team Asenso’s message —
“Padayon Misamis Occidental” — truly reached the hearts of the people.
