The City Government of Ozamiz, through its Peace and Order Council, Anti-Drug Abuse Council, and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, convened a joint council meeting on January 20, 2025, at the Asenso Ozamiz Session Hall in the Sen. Jose F. Ozamiz Memorial Building. The session, which began promptly at 1:30 p.m., was presided over by City Councilor Atty. Marcielian Tapayan.

The meeting opened with a prayer, followed by the singing of the national anthem and the roll call. The primary agenda of the session included vital updates and plans from various local security and disaster response entities, aiming to strengthen the peace, order, and disaster preparedness of Ozamiz City.

Representatives from the Ozamiz City Police Station (OCPS), the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (2nd PMFC), the 10th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army (10th IB, PA), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) each presented their ongoing efforts and future initiatives for improving safety and disaster preparedness in the city.

These agencies collectively addressed security matters, community-based initiatives, and strategies aimed at combating drug-related crimes, boosting public safety, and enhancing disaster risk reduction mechanisms. One of the major points discussed was the reprogramming and reversion of unutilized funds from the 2024 balance of the "Communication Equipment Program" under the Peace and Order Program. A proposal to transfer P2,400,000.00 from Capital Outlay to Maintenance & Other Operating Expenses was presented to support ongoing operations.

Another key proposal involved the utilization of funds under the "Food Supply Expense Program," both under the Peace and Order Program and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (LDRRMF). These funds are intended to support ongoing public safety operations and disaster response activities in alignment with the CDRRM Plan for 2025. Further, the council discussed and approved the utilization of the unexpended balance of the 2024 LDRRME fund amounting to P28,338,912.04. This amount will be allocated as part of the Supplemental Investment Plan for the CDRRMF for 2025.

Additional discussions covered logistical needs, coordination between agencies, and measures to further enhance peace, order, and disaster response operations. The meeting was concluded with adjournment, as the various councils reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the safety, security, and well-being of Ozamiz City's residents.

This council meeting exemplifies the united efforts of local government agencies in addressing critical issues concerning public safety and disaster management, reflecting their collective resolve to create a safer and more prepared community for 2025.
