Commitment to Child Welfare earns prestigious recognition Twelve local government units (LGUs) from Misamis Occidental have been recognized as passers in the 2023 Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA) by the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) Board. These LGUs have demonstrated outstanding dedication to upholding the core rights of children, earning them the prestigious Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance (SCFLG).
The 12 recognized LGUs are:
Baliangao, Concepcion, Lopez Jaena, Sinacaban, Sapang Dalaga
Don Victoriano, Jimenez, Calamba, Bonifacio, Aloran, Clarin and Plaridel.
These LGUs were assessed based on key indicators aligned with the five core rights of children: survival, development, protection, participation, and governance.
The CFLGA is a testament to their unwavering commitment to creating child-friendly communities that prioritize the well-being and development of the younger generation.
This achievement is closely aligned with the provincial development thrust, Asenso Misamis Occidental—a vision of a "Misamisnong that is peaceful, progressive, and joyful." ( MAGPUYONG MALINAWON MALAMBOON UG MALIPAYON)
Under the leadership of Governor Henry Sevilla Oaminal, this recognition reflects the collective efforts of the province's leaders in fostering environments where children can thrive and achieve their full potential.
The successful implementation of the audit in Calendar Year 2024 underscores the dedication of these LGUs to building a brighter future for children, setting a benchmark for child-focused governance in the region.
By earning the SCFLG, these 12 LGUs have showcased how local leadership can actively contribute to advancing child welfare and governance, ensuring that every child in Misamis Occidental grows up in a nurturing, supportive, and inclusive environment.
This recognition celebrates not only the achievements of these LGUs but also their role in the larger goal of making Misamis Occidental a model province for child-friendly governance.
