Ozamiz City has emerged victorious
at the Asenso Trade Fair 2024, clinching the coveted Best Booth Award during
the celebration of Misamis Occidental’s 95th Provincial Anniversary. The city’s
booth, designed to highlight Ozamiz’s rich cultural heritage, was a standout,
showcasing local craftsmanship, products, and artistry that captivated judges
and attendees alike.
The recognition, which includes a
cash prize of P100,000 and a Plaque of Recognition, was presented on November
11 during the awarding ceremony by Governor Henry S. Oaminal. The award was
accepted by Hon. Dinky Suizo, Chairperson of the City Local History, Cultural
Heritage, and Tourism Affairs Department, and Mr. Jaime Tomada, City Economic
Enterprise Officer, on behalf of Mayor Atty. Indy Oaminal.
Councilor Suizo expressed immense
pride, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of the City’s Tourism Office
team. “We are so happy and full of joy that the efforts of our City Tourism
Office personnel, with Mr. Jaime Tomada leading the charge, have paid off.
Ozamiz City stood out among tough competition, and we are proud to be
recognized for our culture and creativity,” said Suizo.
The booth’s design, which
creatively utilized local materials and products, was described as an exemplary
display of the city’s commitment to promoting its culture, boosting local
businesses, and driving tourism. The Best Booth Award serves as a testament to
the collaborative efforts of the city government, led by Mayor Indy Oaminal,
and the hardworking individuals who worked behind the scenes to make Ozamiz
shine on this grand stage.
The recognition highlights the
importance of partnerships and the role of local government in showcasing
Ozamiz City’s potential. As Councilor Suizo rightly pointed out, this
achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the support and guidance of
Mayor Oaminal and the tireless efforts of the Tourism Office team.
This victory not only boosts the
city’s image as a prime tourist destination but also contributes to the
economic growth of the region. The award is a powerful reminder of the impact
of effective collaboration in fostering growth and promoting community pride.
Ozamiz City’s victory at the Asenso Trade Fair serves as a beacon of progress, underscoring the city’s dedication to preserving and promoting its rich cultural heritage and the continued efforts of its local government to bring prosperity to the community.
