The fight against Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) took center stage today as Ozamiz City officially launched a two-day training workshop for key barangay officials at the Royal Garden Hotel.

The kickoff ceremony, held on March 27, 2025, marked the beginning of an intensive learning session aimed at strengthening the community’s frontline defense against online child exploitation. The event was attended by barangay captains, councilors, child protection advocates, social workers, and law enforcement officers, all committed to tackling this growing digital-age crime.

In his opening message, Ozamiz City Vice Mayor Bebe Neri emphasized the crucial role of barangay leaders in identifying, reporting, and preventing OSAEC-CSAEM cases. She stressed that this training aligns with the city’s vision of a safer and more secure digital environment for children.

Experts from child protection agencies, law enforcement, and legal sectors facilitated discussions on the latest trends in online exploitation, case handling procedures, and preventive measures. Participants were also introduced to technological tools and legal frameworks essential in addressing these crimes at the barangay level.

The training will run from March 27-28, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, equipping barangay officials with the necessary skills and strategies to proactively combat child exploitation in their respective communities.

With the launch of this initiative, Ozamiz City reinforces its commitment to child safety and community-driven solutions against cyber-based threats.
