“We are looking into guidelines that would allow vloggers and content creators to take on a responsible broadcasting role. Imagine the potential impact on our communities if these digital influencers were held to similar standards as traditional broadcasters,” Galvez said. He emphasized that broadcasting is no longer confined to radio and television, given advancements in technology that allow virtually anyone to reach a vast audience with ease.
Galvez highlighted the evolution of media, stating, “We are seeing broadcasters as not only those who hold a radio or television platform, but also individuals utilizing available technology to communicate and share information effectively.”
The proposed accreditation would be available to individuals as well as organizations comprising vloggers and content creators, allowing for greater credibility and recognition within the industry. The initiative aims to bring vloggers, influencers, and mobile journalists into a framework that encourages responsible content creation, fostering trust and integrity in digital broadcasting.
This move by the KBP is seen as a timely response to the rise of digital media platforms and the growing influence of online personalities. With more people turning to digital sources for information and entertainment, this accreditation could enhance the role of vloggers and content creators as credible voices in public discourse.
Digital content creators welcomed the KBP’s initiative, seeing it as an opportunity to gain professional recognition and to contribute positively to society through informed and ethical content creation. The KBP accreditation, still in development, promises a new era of collaboration between traditional and digital media, ultimately enriching the media landscape of the Philippines.
