In a significant step towards a safer and drug-free community, Mayor Indy Oaminal proudly announced that Barangay Tabid, Bongbong, and Cavinte have officially been declared drug-cleared. This announcement was made through the Mayor's official social media platform, marking a new milestone in Ozamiz City’s ongoing campaign against illegal drugs.

"Admittedly, it is difficult to have a barangay in Ozamiz declared free of drugs, owing to its previous position as the center of crime and the drug trade," Mayor Oaminal stated, acknowledging the city's challenging past. The Mayor emphasized the immense effort required to rehabilitate the many former drug pushers and users to achieve this status.

Despite these challenges, Mayor Oaminal reported that the city is making steady progress. With the addition of these three barangays, more than half of the city's barangays—26 out of 51—are now formally recognized as drug-cleared.

The Mayor expressed confidence that it is only a matter of time before all 51 barangays in Ozamiz will be officially declared drug-free. He highlighted that while these declarations are a cause for celebration, the true victory lies in the sense of safety and security felt by the residents.

"While this is more than enough already, we will continue working hard to make sure this is not only maintained but only made even better," Mayor Oaminal concluded, reinforcing his commitment to sustaining and improving the city's drug-free status.

The city's residents have welcomed the news, seeing it as a sign of the positive changes taking place in Ozamiz under the current administration's leadership.
