Ozamiz City — City Mayor Sam Norman G. Fuentes on Monday
used the regular flag-raising ceremony at the Ozamiz City Hall Grounds to
formally close 2025 with gratitude, reaffirming the administration’s commitment
to people-centered, unified, and forward-looking service as the city steps into
2026.
Speaking before city hall employees and partner national
agencies, Fuentes underscored that every gain achieved by the local government
was built on the dedication, sacrifice, and daily work of its people—reflecting
the core Asenso principle that progress is driven by service and shared
responsibility.
“Whatever challenge we might have been able to overcome,
whatever goals we have been able to achieve, is more than a testament to your
efforts and your dedication,” the mayor said.
As the city prepares for a new year, Fuentes acknowledged
that growth is shaped not only by success but also by lessons learned along the
way. He noted that plans for 2026 are grounded in reflection, improvement, and
the resolve to do better for the people of Ozamiz.
“Let us learn to heal and to forgive each other,” he said,
emphasizing unity, humility, and trust as essential foundations of effective
public service.
The mayor expressed confidence that with the continued
solidarity of the city workforce, Ozamiz can move forward with renewed
energy—delivering programs and services that are more responsive, efficient,
and inclusive.
“With you being with me, we can usher in 2026 with more
vibrance and confidence,” Fuentes added.
He reiterated that the strength of the local government lies
in its people, describing city hall employees as the administration’s greatest
asset and the frontliners of Asenso-style governance—where service is felt,
systems work, and people come first.
“Everything would never be achieved without you. You, my
co-employees of LGU Ozamiz City, are the LGU’s greatest and most valuable
asset,” he said.
Fuentes concluded by urging employees to take pride in their
collective work and to aim higher in the year ahead, calling on everyone to
help make 2026 a year of stronger institutions, deeper trust, and sustained
progress.
“Let us applaud ourselves. Let us make 2026 the year to achieve new heights,” he said.
